Case Study · Insurance Website
Hornbill Insurance Website
A full rebuild of a Brampton insurance brokerage's public website — instant quote tools on every product, a personal shareable page for each of the eight advisors, and a mobile-first, search-ready front end that feeds leads straight into the brokerage CRM.

The Challenge
The brokerage had a website and a CRM that behaved like two unrelated businesses. Advisor pages lived on a separate CRM address, so every share and every backlink built up an address that sold nothing — splitting the brand's search value across two domains. Banner images had been saved at near-maximum quality, several pages scrolled sideways on a phone, and the sitemap still advertised pages that had been deleted.
We rebuilt the site on Laravel with one consistent navy-and-gold identity, moved every advisor page onto the main domain behind permanent redirects, and ran a full audit at real phone sizes. The same instant quote engines now run on the main site and on each advisor's page — and whoever's page captured the visitor gets the credit in the CRM.

Star Feature
A personal page for every advisor
Each licensed advisor gets their own page at hornbillinsurance.ca/advisors/their-name — a link they can drop in a WhatsApp message, on a business card, or in a social bio. Photo, title, bio, the products they specialise in and their own client reviews, all on brokerage branding, so nobody has to design anything themselves. Advisors still edit their own text and photo from the CRM; the layout stays on-brand no matter what they change.

Lead Attribution
Quotes that know who sent them
The instant quote tools — visitor, super visa, travel and life — run identically on the main site and on every advisor page. When someone lands on an advisor's page and asks for a quote, that lead is credited to the advisor automatically, and the credit follows the visitor for the rest of the session even if they browse elsewhere before submitting. If the CRM is ever unreachable, the page shows a polite back-shortly message instead of an error.

Product Shelf
Twelve products, organised the way people shop
Life, super visa, visitor, travel, student visa, health and dental, critical illness, disability, mortgage, RESP, RRSP and TFSA — each with its own page explaining who the coverage is for, what it costs and what the legal minimums are. The navigation was re-grouped into a proper insurance taxonomy so visitors stop hunting through a flat list.

One domain, a tenth of the weight
Search Visibility
Advisor pages moving onto the main domain was the single biggest win — every share now builds hornbillinsurance.ca instead of a second address, with permanent redirects so no existing link was lost.
The sitemap was rebuilt from scratch: the old one listed 19 pages, ten of which were dead, and omitted the team page, the blog and all twelve service pages. The replacement lists every real page and adds to itself the moment an advisor or post is published — currently 33 URLs. Unique titles and descriptions, schema markup, canonical tags and social previews were written for every page.
Page Speed
Banner and service images had been exported at close to maximum quality — far past what a screen can resolve. Recompressing them took roughly 7.7 MB down to 0.8 MB with no visible difference on a real phone.
Blog photos now render in three sizes and each browser downloads only the one that fits its screen: a photo that cost a phone 586 KB now costs 12 KB. New uploads are resized automatically, so the fix holds without anyone remembering to apply it.
Audited at real phone sizes
Every page was walked through at true handset widths. Sideways scrolling is gone, tapping a quote field no longer makes iPhones zoom in, buttons are big enough for a thumb, and the floating call button no longer sits on top of the form buttons underneath it.

Built to hand over
A modular Laravel application on PHP 8 and MySQL, packaged into a container so it starts identically every time, and served on the live domain over an encrypted tunnel with a valid certificate. Credentials live in protected configuration rather than in the code, public forms are rate-limited, and the whole codebase sits in version control so any change can be rolled back. Company email stayed on its existing provider with no interruption during the switchover.
